The Meaning Of Spectrum

Spectrum: A pattern in which the dispersed monochromatic light is arranged according to the wavelength (or frequency) of the dispersion system (e.g. prism or grating), and is called optical spectrum. The largest part of the spectrum is the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum which is visible to the human eye. The electromagnetic radiation in this wavelength range is called visible light. The spectrum does not contain all the colours that human brain vision can distinguish, such as brown and pink.
 
Light waves are generated by electrons in the motion of atoms. Electrons in atoms of various substances move differently, so they emit different light waves. It has important theoretical and practical significance to study the light emission and absorption of different substances. It has become a special subject - spectroscopy. The infrared absorption spectra of molecules are generally used to study the vibrational and rotational spectra of molecules, among which the vibrational spectra of molecules have always been the main research subject.
