Principle and optimization of plant growth lamp

2021-08-05

Different wavelengths of light have different effects on plant photosynthesis. The light needed for plant photosynthesis is about 400 ~ 720nm. 400-520nm (blue) light and 610-720nm (red) light contribute the most to photosynthesis. 520 ~ 610 nm (green) light, the absorption rate of plant pigment is very low.

According to the above principles, the perpetual lamp is basically made of three combinations of red and blue, all blue and all red, to provide two wavelengths of light and red blue, covering the wavelength range required for photosynthesis. In the visual effect, the combination of red and blue plant light is pink.

White LED lamp, the most common is to use blue core to excite yellow phosphor, which produces visual white effect. In terms of energy distribution, there are two peaks in the blue region of 445nm and the yellow green region of 550nm. However, 610 ~ 720nm red light needed by plants is very scarce. This explains why plant growth is not good under white LED irradiation.

The ratio of red and blue lamp of perpetual lamp is generally between 5:1 and 10:1, and the ratio of 7 to 8:1 is usually chosen. Of course, it is best to adjust the proportion of red and blue light according to the growth cycle of plants.

When the LED plant light supplement lamp is used to supplement light for plants, the general power is lower than 50W led plant light supplement lamp. For different plants, it is better to be 0.2-0.8m away from the main leaf surface of plants when in use; for different plants, it is better to be 0.5-1.5m away from the main leaf surface of plants when in use when the power is higher than 50W led plant light supplement lamp.
